This tour will explore some of the beautiful mountain roads on the outskirts of Santo Domingo and in the province of San Cristobal. We leave from Santo Domingo and head south-west, entering dirt roads as soon as we are able to. We will travel through several small towns on the outskirts of Santo Domingo, getting to see small town life and the countryside.
We arrive in the town of Los Cacaos, where a quick break for a drink and a snack in a “colmado” (bodega or corner shop). We then go back into the mountains, through paved and off-road paths until we reach Los Reyitos, a riverside spot on the Nizao river where you can go for a swim or just take a break. Lunch is available here (typical Dominican food). After the break, we can choose to go to the Jiguey dam.
After lunch, we return to the town of Los Cacaos, and then back into the mountains, down a riverside route, where we will see a peculiar landmark: a set of large statues created by a local artist. We finish our day by riding back to Santo Domingo.
